Financial Reporting Manager

Location: London
Type: Permanent, Full Time
Hybrid role: 2 days in office/ 3 from home

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Financial Reporting Manager to lead the preparation and delivery of accurate, timely financial reporting for a portfolio of regulated insurance and reinsurance entities based in the Netherlands.

This is a high-profile role requiring strong technical accounting expertise, leadership capability, and the ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships across multiple jurisdictions. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in overseeing statutory and regulatory reporting, maintaining a robust control environment, and supporting strategic restructuring and transformation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Control

  • Oversee the preparation and review of statutory financial statements for Dutch insurance and reinsurance entities.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with local GAAP requirements.
  • Maintain a strong financial control environment across all reporting activities.
  • Manage quarterly legal entity reporting and management reporting requirements.
  • Support tax reporting processes by providing high-quality financial information and analysis.
  • Identify and implement improvements to reporting processes, controls and governance frameworks.

  • Lead and support the Netherlands-based finance team, providing effective guidance, coaching and motivation.
  • Act as a key finance contact between UK and Netherlands stakeholders.
  • Build strong working relationships with auditors, regulators and internal business partners.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Tax, Legal, Actuarial and Operations teams to ensure reporting requirements are met.

Change, Transformation & Projects

  • Support the implementation and optimisation of finance systems, including general ledger platforms.
  • Lead projects focused on entity restructuring, run-off, wind-down planning and organisational transformation.
  • Coordinate project governance, status reporting, risk management and stakeholder communications.
  • Assess the financial reporting, control and accounting implications of business change initiatives.
  • Review and reconcile differences between local GAAP and US GAAP reporting requirements where applicable.

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • ACA, ACCA or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
  • 5-10 years of post-qualification experience.
  • Strong financial reporting experience within insurance, reinsurance or wider financial services.
  • Experience managing reporting processes involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of financial accounting and reporting frameworks, including US GAAP and European statutory reporting requirements.
  • Strong understanding of financial controls, governance and data integrity.
  • Proven ability to interpret complex accounting and regulatory guidance.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial reporting and general ledger systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including preparing reports and presentations for senior stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.

  • Experience supporting finance transformation, restructuring, merger, run-off or wind-down programmes.
  • Experience managing regulatory reporting obligations across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Knowledge of insurance and reinsurance accounting environments.
