This is an outstanding opportunity for someone looking to become the technical accounting lead within a growing organisation, partnering with senior stakeholders on complex accounting matters while helping shape the finance function as it continues to evolve.
Beyond the technical remit, the successful candidate will join a high-calibre finance team, working alongside experienced finance leaders and gaining exposure to a broad range of financial, commercial, and strategic initiatives. This role provides an excellent platform for a technically strong accountant to accelerate their career while developing a wider understanding of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary technical accounting advisor across the business, providing expert guidance on IFRS and UK GAAP matters.
- Lead the accounting treatment for complex and non-routine transactions, preparing robust technical accounting papers to support key judgements and conclusions.
- Provide technical expertise across key accounting areas including IFRS 15 (Revenue Recognition), IFRS 16 (Leases) and support the implementation and interpretation of IFRS 18, ensuring the business remains compliant with evolving reporting standards.
- Monitor developments in accounting standards, assessing their impact on the business and leading implementation where required.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance accounting policies, ensuring consistency, compliance, and the adoption of best practice across the organisation.
- Support the preparation and review of statutory financial statements, technical disclosures, and year-end reporting requirements.
- Act as the principal technical contact for external auditors, building strong relationships and resolving technical accounting matters efficiently.
- Strengthen financial controls, governance, and accounting processes, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
