Self-Employed Financial Resilience Consultant
Access Financial Services
Field-Based & Remote | Self-Employed | Commission Only | Uncapped Earnings
About Access Financial Services
Access Financial Services is a community-focused financial services firm supporting advisers in building sustainable, high-performing businesses.
We provide advisers with the infrastructure, technology, compliance support and professional environment needed to develop their own client pipeline while retaining the independence and earning potential that comes with being self-employed.
Our culture is built around collaboration, accountability and long-term growth. We are looking for ambitious, like-minded individuals who want to build strong client relationships, develop a valuable network and create a sustainable business through excellent service, recommendations and referrals.
The Opportunity
We are looking for motivated, relationship-driven individuals to join us as Self-Employed Financial Resilience Consultants, with a primary focus on protection.
This is a self-employed, commission-only opportunity with uncapped earning potential. It is designed for individuals who want their income and progression to reflect the quality and volume of business they build.
This is primarily a face-to-face, field-based role. You will meet clients in person, predominantly at their homes or at mutually agreed local meeting locations. Virtual consultations may also be used where appropriate.
For that reason, candidates must hold a valid driving licence and have reliable access to their own car.
The objective isn’t simply to complete individual transactions. We want consultants who build genuine relationships with their clients and develop a long-term client bank.
You’ll help clients understand their financial vulnerabilities, identify what is most important to protect and recommend suitable protection solutions where appropriate.
By delivering a strong client experience, you’ll also develop introductions and referrals from existing clients, helping you build an increasingly valuable pipeline and network over time.
What You’ll Be Doing
Your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting primarily face-to-face client meetings, including appointments at clients’ residences and agreed local meeting locations.
- Conducting virtual appointments where suitable for the client.
- Building rapport and developing trusted, long-term client relationships.
- Understanding clients’ circumstances, priorities, financial commitments and existing protection arrangements.
- Helping clients understand the financial impact that illness, injury, loss of income or death could have on them and their families.
- Recommending suitable protection solutions based on individual client needs and circumstances.
- Managing your own diary, appointments, follow-ups and client pipeline.
- Proactively developing new business and building a network of clients, contacts, introductions and referrals.
- Asking satisfied clients for introductions where appropriate and developing a sustainable referral-led pipeline.
- Maintaining relationships with existing clients rather than treating business as a one-off transaction.
- Keeping accurate client records and using the firm’s CRM and adviser systems.
- Working within all applicable compliance and regulatory requirements.
- Taking ownership of your own activity, performance and business development.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Earnings & Self-Employed Structure
This is a self-employed, commission-only role.
There is no fixed salary. Earnings are based on the business you successfully write and maintain, with a high commission structure and uncapped earning potential.
The opportunity therefore rewards individuals who are willing to consistently meet clients, develop relationships and build their own pipeline.
As is common with protection business, commissions can be subject to clawback if a policy is cancelled or ceases during the applicable commission liability period.
The commission and clawback structure will be explained clearly before joining so candidates understand both the earning opportunity and the responsibilities associated with it.
The aim is not simply to write as much business as possible. Successful consultants build suitable, sustainable business with clients who understand and value the protection they have put in place.
Who We’re Looking For
This opportunity is particularly suited to someone who is:
- Confident and personable when meeting people face-to-face.
- Naturally good at building relationships and earning trust.
- Comfortable visiting clients and travelling locally for appointments.
- Ambitious and motivated by performance-based earnings.
- Comfortable working on a self-employed and commission-only basis.
- Able to generate opportunities through networking, introductions and referrals.
- Persistent and organised with follow-ups.
- Comfortable managing their own diary and pipeline.
- Professional when representing themselves and Access Financial Services in clients’ homes and other meeting environments.
- Interested in developing a long-term client bank rather than simply chasing individual sales.
- Ethical and client-focused, with an understanding that recommendations must be based on genuine client needs.
Experience in financial services, protection, mortgages, sales, recruitment, estate agency, automotive sales, business development or another relationship-led client-facing environment can be beneficial.

The Type of Person We Want
We’re looking for someone who wants to build something of their own within a supportive financial-services environment.
You should enjoy speaking to people, understanding what matters to them and developing relationships that extend beyond a single appointment.
