Financial Systems & Accounting Expert
Type: Contractor
Compensation: $90–$170/hour

About the Opportunity
micro1 is engaging experienced Financial Systems & Accounting Experts to support a customer project focused on accounting operations, financial systems, and AI model training.
In this role, you will apply real-world accounting judgment and hands-on financial systems expertise to evaluate and improve next-generation AI systems. Accounting proficiency is the primary focus, while prior paid experience supporting human data activities for AI models is also a firm project requirement.
This opportunity is focused on practical accounting workflows spanning transaction capture, reconciliations, month-end close, financial reporting, and ERP-based processes. Using AI-enabled features within accounting software alone does not satisfy the AI human-data experience requirement.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate AI-generated accounting outputs for technical accuracy, including accounting treatments, calculations, journal entries, and explanations.
- Assess outputs against established accounting standards and professional accounting practices.
- Review and annotate financial statements, reconciliations, and month-end close workpapers.
- Identify accounting misstatements and provide appropriate treatments with clear rationale.
- Evaluate accounting workflows and financial-system logic across major ERP and accounting platforms.
- Apply written rubrics and grading guidelines consistently when rating or ranking AI-generated outputs.
- Flag ambiguous or complex cases for further review when appropriate.
- Contribute realistic accounting scenarios and reference answers based on modern financial systems and real-world accounting practices.
- Provide clear, actionable written feedback to project and model teams to support ongoing AI system improvement.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
