Interim IT Systems Manager - Finance

£60,000 DOE | Hybrid – 50% onsite / 50% home | North Liverpool/Lancashire region - UK

Are you an experienced Finance Systems professional who enjoys taking ownership of complex transformation projects and turning business requirements into practical, scalable solutions?

We’re working with a well established organisation to recruit an Interim Finance Projects & IT Systems Manager for a highly visible role sitting at the heart of its Finance transformation agenda.

This is an excellent opportunity to make a tangible impact. You’ll take a leading role in the development and improvement of the organisation’s Finance and payment systems, while helping shape the future systems landscape as it moves towards a modern, SaaS first architecture.

The opportunity

This is much more than a systems support role. You’ll act as a key technical and project lead across the Finance systems portfolio, working closely with Finance, IT, senior stakeholders and third party suppliers to deliver business critical change. A major focus will be supporting the implementation of new systems and the wider digital transformation programme, alongside improving integrations, automation and interoperability between platforms. You’ll have the autonomy to influence how solutions are designed and delivered, while providing the technical leadership needed to move projects from scoping and procurement through to implementation and successful BAU handover.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

What you’ll be doing

Your remit will include:

  • Leading Finance systems and digital transformation projects from initial scoping through to implementation.
  • Taking ownership of Finance and payment systems, ensuring they remain secure, resilient, integrated and fit for purpose.
  • Leading the design and delivery of system integrations, APIs, automation and data flows.
  • Translating complex business requirements into effective technical solutions and system designs.
  • Managing project governance, risks, priorities and key stakeholder expectations.
  • Working with and influencing software suppliers and technology partners to deliver enhancements and system change.
  • Overseeing upgrades, releases, testing, troubleshooting and continuous system improvement.
  • Providing technical leadership and direction across multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Working with senior stakeholders to help shape future systems investment and transformation priorities.

What we’re looking for

You’ll be an experienced Finance Systems / ERP / IT Business Systems professional who is comfortable operating at both strategic and hands on levels. You’re likely to have experience of managing technically complex systems across a mixture of SaaS, hosted and on premise environments, alongside strong knowledge of enterprise Finance or comparable business critical systems. Technically, experience across areas such as APIs, middleware/iPaaS, SQL, JavaScript, PowerShell, RESTful services, Azure or Microsoft Power Platform would be particularly relevant.

Just as importantly, you’ll be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience managing several competing projects and operational priorities.
  • Supplier and vendor management experience.
  • The ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical and senior stakeholders.
  • Strong problem solving skills and a pragmatic, delivery focused approach.
  • The confidence to challenge, influence and drive decisions.

Why consider this role?

This is an opportunity to step into a genuinely influential position during a period of significant systems change. Rather than simply keeping existing platforms running, you’ll have the chance to shape solutions, improve processes and leave a lasting impact on the organisation’s Finance technology landscape.
