About The Role
Reporting to the Lead Accountancy Manager of the Financial Control Team, you will act as the Council's lead specialist for financial systems, combining strategic leadership with operational expertise. You will manage a small team responsible for system support, configuration and maintenance, whilst driving a programme of continuous improvement, automation and innovation.

We are looking for a motivated professional with substantial experience supporting and developing financial systems within a complex organisation.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the Financial Systems Team
- Deliver a strategic financial systems improvement plan
- Manage upgrades, enhancements and new modules
- Ensure robust controls, security and compliance
- Develop reporting solutions and financial insight
- Work closely with finance, ICT and suppliers
- Support transformation and digital change programmes
What You Will Bring
- Knowledge of local government finance and statutory requirements
- Experience with integrated financial management systems such as Civica Financials
- Track record of delivering system improvements and automation
- Strong leadership, stakeholder management and communication skills
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and project management skills
- CCAB part-qualified (or equivalent) or fully qualified AAT with relevant experience and a commitment to achieving full CCAB qualification within 5 years.
