EY - Fintech Lab Engineer

The financial services industry continues to undergo a period of unparalleled change. Since the financial crisis, banks and financial institutions have been subject to more stringent regulation, increased supervision and ongoing global economic instability. These changes have come at a cost, prompting institutions to re-evaluate traditional ways of doing business. At the same time, rapid technological advances, including disruptive technologies and digital innovation, are increasing the pressure to maintain a competitive edge, adapt quickly and improve profitability.

The FinTech Lab gives financial services organisations direct access to the latest developments in agentic systems and artificial intelligence, helping them rapidly explore, validate and bring high-value business opportunities to market. We are looking for experienced software engineers who are aware of emerging trends and excited to help clients innovate.

The opportunity

As part of the Lab’s engineering team, you will help shape and evolve our technology stack while rapidly developing prototypes that demonstrate how AI and agentic systems can solve real business challenges. You will research emerging tools, design practical solutions, present recommendations to senior stakeholders and work closely with the wider Lab team to help clients understand, test and adopt new technologies with confidence.

Your key responsibilities

  • Lead rapid prototype development using cutting-edge agent-driven engineering approaches.
  • Challenge traditional delivery methods and introduce faster, more automated ways of building software.
  • Define and maintain engineering standards across the Lab, including quality, security, testing and production-readiness.
  • Work with clients and internal stakeholders to identify, assess and prioritise high-value opportunities for emerging technology.
  • Architect AI-enabled solutions that connect data, tools and user intent to automate complex workflows.
  • Create intuitive interfaces and human-in-the-loop workflows for supervising and improving AI-enabled processes.
  • Share reusable patterns, lessons learned and technology best practices across EY.
  • Manage multiple workstreams effectively through clear planning, prioritisation and communication.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
