About The Opportunity

The Service Engineer is responsible for carrying out planned preventative maintenance, reactive call-outs, fault finding, repairs, and remedial works across a range of fire alarm and associated systems.

Working as part of a dedicated team of service engineers, you will play a key role in ensuring systems remain fully operational and compliant, while delivering a high standard of customer service. The role requires maintaining accurate service records, completing all documentation to the required standards, and adhering to company procedures, industry regulations, and quality management systems.

You will also support the business in maintaining its accreditations and regulatory approvals by ensuring all work is completed in line with relevant standards and by providing assistance during audits and inspections when required.


Key Responsibilities And Accountabilities

  • Service and Maintenance: Carry out routine servicing, fault-finding, repairs, and system upgrades.
  • Technical Evaluation: Assess system performance, diagnose issues, and provide recommendations for improvements or remedial work.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Complete accurate job sheets, risk assessments, method statements, and system documentation.
  • Client Communication: Act as a professional point of contact, providing clear updates and ensuring client satisfaction.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure all work meets industry standards, legislation, and ACEDA's safety and quality requirements.
  • Stock and Resource Management: Manage materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Team Support: Assist colleagues, share technical knowledge, and contribute to continuous improvement across the department.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience as a Fire Service Engineer.
  • Strong competency in fire alarm and emergency lighting service and maintenance.
  • Good understanding of industry standards.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and system schematics.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Installation and Commissioning: Install and commission fire alarms.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable Skills

  • Electronic Security Experience: Service and Maintenance, Install and Commissioning of CCTV, access control, intruder alarms, and associated systems to relevant standards.
