The Company
An established UK fire and security systems integrator delivering fire detection, life safety and security solutions for commercial clients nationwide. The business combines in-house design, project delivery and maintenance capability, with a strong focus on technically sound, compliant systems and long-term client relationships.
The Role
A technical design and estimating role at the heart of the fire and security business. You'll assess client fire safety needs, design conventional and addressable fire alarm systems from specifications and floor plans, and produce accurate, profitable quotations. Working closely with the BDM and sales team across the UK, you'll take projects from survey and technical design through to handover.
Key Responsibilities
- Design conventional and addressable fire alarm systems from drawings, specifications and client requirement documents, in line with current standards and codes of practice.
- Technically vet projects before customer submission so every design is sound, fit for purpose and accurately costed for equipment, labour, pre-staging and testing.
- Progress internal and external enquiries, interpret specifications and select the best equipment from the supported portfolio.
- Produce quotations for new installations, system upgrades, and fire system maintenance and servicing contracts.
- Liaise with clients, manufacturers and the sales team to deliver detailed designs that meet client requirements and expectations.
- Support the BDM and sales team across the UK, from site survey and technical design to completion.
- Work with the projects team, contractors and customers to ensure timely and effective delivery.
- Identify extra works opportunities and generate sales leads.
- Help source parts and suppliers, and support the technical support and account management teams when required.
- Follow all health, safety, information security and compliance policies.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
