The Opportunity
Are you an experienced Fire Alarm Engineer tired of being treated like a number, chasing unrealistic daily quotas, and stuck on exhausting week-long call-outs?
Safe I.S. Ltd is an established, NSI Gold and BAFE-accredited fire safety specialist. We have built our reputation on doing the job right the first time, prioritising technical thoroughness and lasting client relationships over rushed volume.
We are expanding our field engineering team to support our growing commercial and residential client base across North London and the northern Home Counties. While our head office is based in Surrey, this role is fully regionalised—your van stock, parts, and materials are coordinated directly to your patch, meaning zero wasted hours trekking south of the river.
Earnings & Benefits
- Base Salary: £32,000 – £40,000 (negotiable depending on experience and qualifications)
- Uncapped Performance Bonus: Realistic average earnings of £6,000 per annum, however.
- Overtime Scheme: Plentiful mid-week and weekend overtime opportunities available at enhanced rates for those looking to maximise earnings.
- Expected OTE: £38,000 – £50,000+
- Job on Knock: Complete your scheduled workload safely and thoroughly, and your time is your own—head straight home.
- 1-in-8 Day Call-Out Rota: No brutal full-week standby rotas. We schedule on-call duties just one single day at a time, backed by a daily standby allowance and door-to-door enhanced rates if called out.
- Travel Time: Paid travel scheme to ensure you are compensated fairly for your time on the road.
- Holiday: 21 days + 8 Bank Holidays, increasing with length of service.
- The Kit: Modern commercial van (under 3 years old) with fuel card, high-spec smart tablet/phone, calibrated testing equipment, power tools, and branded workwear.

The Role
Working independently across commercial, healthcare, educational, and high-end residential sites, your responsibilities will include:
- Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM): Comprehensive servicing of addressable and conventional Fire Alarm systems, Emergency Lighting, and portable Fire Extinguishers to current BS standards.
- Fault Finding & Remedials: Diagnosing complex system faults, carrying out panel replacements, detector change-outs, and creating accurate zone plans.
- Digital Certification: Completing clear, audit-compliant job reports and certificates directly via our paperless mobile software.
- Client Engagement: Acting as a trusted, professional advisor to on-site facility managers and duty holders.

About You
You take pride in quality workmanship, tidy cabling, and leaving a site safer than you found it.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of hands-on field servicing experience on commercial fire alarms and emergency lighting systems.
- Accreditations: FIA Fundamental Units and BAFE-recognised portable extinguisher certification are required.
- Diagnostic Skills: Confident working with a range of major addressable and conventional protocols.
- Driving Licence: Full UK manual driving licence with a clean track record.
