Job Advertisement: Fire Alarm Engineer for Fire Safety Compliance Company

Position: Fire Alarm Engineer

  • Hours: 40 hours per week (Monday - Friday)
  • Location: Northwich, Cheshire
  • Hybrid working

Absolute Property Surveys is a leading provider of fire safety compliance services, dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of our clients through comprehensive fire safety solutions. We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive fire alarm engineer with an in-depth knowledge of both commercial & domestic fire alarm systems. A dedicated individual is preferred in order to help the company continue to grow and service new and existing client bases.

Job Description

As a fire alarm engineer, you will be required to service, maintain, and at times install fire alarm systems as part of day-to-day activities. Installation & servicing of emergency lighting systems will also be required as part of day-to-day duties.

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Administrative tasks such as answering and directing phone calls and emails.
  • Collating and providing evidence to clients and senior team members.
  • Organising and scheduling appointments for fire safety inspections and training sessions.
  • Maintaining and updating client records and compliance documentation.
  • Assisting in the preparation of fire safety reports and compliance certificates.
  • Managing office supplies and equipment.
  • Coordinating with fire safety inspectors and clients to ensure timely service delivery.
  • Handling email correspondence and distributing memos, letters, and reports.
  • Assisting with the preparation of regularly scheduled compliance reports.
  • Developing and maintaining a filing system for compliance documentation.
  • Providing general administrative support to the team.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years’ proven experience of working on both domestic & commercial fire alarm systems, must have experience of working on both ‘addressable & conventional’ fire alarm systems.
  • Fire alarm experience must include installation work and replacement works. An extensive knowledge of fault finding is required. Good knowledge of BS 5839 parts 1 & 6.
  • Must have at least 3 years of proven experience working with emergency lighting systems and be capable of carrying out installations & replacements of emergency lighting systems. Good knowledge of BS 5266.
  • Diagnose faults and complete repairs in a timely and professional manner.
  • Complete service reports, certificates, and documentation accurately.
  • Provide technical support and advice to customers.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety policies at all times.
  • Knowledge of office management systems and procedures.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel and MS Word, in particular).
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.
  • Familiarity with fire safety compliance regulations and terminology is a plus.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
