About the Client

Our Client is an established specialist contractor delivering fire safety, engineering, and building services solutions across a diverse range of sectors. As part of continued growth, Our Client is seeking a commercially focused Fire Alarm Business Development Manager to expand its customer base, develop strategic relationships, and secure profitable new contracts.

Roles/Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities within the fire alarm and fire detection market.
  • Generate leads and build a strong pipeline of installation, maintenance, servicing, and upgrade opportunities.
  • Develop relationships with end users, facilities managers, main contractors, consultants, property managers, and other key decision-makers.
  • Manage the full business development process from initial prospecting through to proposal, negotiation, and contract award.
  • Promote fire detection, alarm, maintenance, and associated fire safety solutions to new and existing customers.
  • Attend client meetings, site visits, networking events, and industry functions to develop new relationships.
  • Work closely with estimating, technical, engineering, and operational teams to develop commercially competitive proposals.
  • Understand client requirements and recommend appropriate technical and service solutions.
  • Prepare and deliver professional presentations, proposals, quotations, and tender responses.
  • Negotiate commercial terms while protecting margin and ensuring opportunities meet business objectives.
  • Maintain accurate sales pipeline, forecasting, and customer information within CRM systems.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities within the fire safety sector.
  • Develop account plans for strategic prospects and key customers.
  • Identify cross-selling and recurring-revenue opportunities, particularly within service and maintenance contracts.
  • Support client retention by maintaining strong relationships following contract award.
  • Achieve agreed sales, revenue, margin, and business development targets.

Qualifications

  • Proven business development or sales experience within the fire alarm, fire detection, fire safety, or associated building services sector.
  • Strong understanding of fire alarm installation, servicing, maintenance, and compliance requirements.
  • Existing relationships within relevant construction, facilities management, property, or end-user markets would be advantageous.
  • Demonstrable track record of generating leads and converting opportunities into profitable contracts.
  • Good commercial awareness with strong negotiation and closing skills.
  • Ability to understand technical requirements and communicate solutions clearly to customers.
  • Knowledge of relevant fire alarm standards, including BS 5839, would be beneficial.
  • Experience preparing proposals, quotations, presentations, and tender submissions.
  • Strong networking and relationship-management skills.
  • Self-motivated and comfortable managing a sales territory and pipeline independently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Competent with CRM systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Full UK driving licence due to the client-facing nature of the role.
