Role Description
The Fire and Security Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in the Manchester Area, United Kingdom. The engineer will install, commission, maintain, and service fire-alarm, detection, and suppression systems, as well as integrated security systems including access control, CCTV, and intrusion detection. Daily tasks include conducting system inspections and testing, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations, diagnosing faults, performing repairs, and documenting all work completed. The role involves collaborating with project managers and clients to plan and deliver installations, providing technical support, and advising on system improvements and upgrades. The engineer will also participate in periodic call-out coverage and ensure that all health and safety procedures are followed on customer sites.

- Strong foundation in Security Engineering and Information Security, with the ability to design, implement, and maintain secure fire and security systems.
- Knowledge of Network Security and Cybersecurity principles relevant to connected fire and security devices, control panels, and remote monitoring solutions.
- Understanding of Application Security considerations for software and interfaces used in fire detection, suppression, and integrated security platforms.
- Proven experience installing, commissioning, and servicing fire alarms, detection and suppression systems, and security systems such as CCTV, access control, and intruder alarms.
- Familiarity with UK standards and regulations (e.g., BS 5839 and related fire and security regulations), and ability to work in compliance with health and safety requirements.
- Relevant technical qualifications (e.g., NVQ or equivalent in electrical or electronic engineering, or fire and security systems), and manufacturer or industry certifications are beneficial.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to produce clear service reports and documentation.
- Effective communication skills, a customer-focused approach, full UK driving license, and willingness to travel within the Manchester area and occasionally nationwide.
