Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role based in the North West for a Fire and Security Small Works & Defect Repairs Engineer. There are two similar roles available, one covering the East Lancashire region and the other covering the Greater Manchester region. The engineer will carry out small works, minor installations, and remedial repairs on fire and security systems, ensuring they operate safely, correctly and in line with relevant standards and regulations.

Daily tasks include:

- Repairing system defects
- Performing corrective maintenance
- Replacing or upgrading components
- Testing systems such as fire alarms, suppression, and life safety equipment
The role involves working with clients on-site, documenting work completed, providing clear reports, and communicating any further recommendations to help maintain compliance. The engineer will collaborate with the wider technical team, follow company procedures, and support a high level of customer service and reliability.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess knowledge and experience of Electronic Security and Fire Safety systems, with the ability to assess risks and help maintain compliant environments.
- Candidates should possess skills and knowledge of Electronic Security, Life Safety and Fire Protection systems, including understanding of systems and measures that protect people and property.
- Relevant experience working with fire alarms, intruder alarms, CCTV, access control, warden call, and associated security and life safety systems in commercial, industrial, and public settings.
- Knowledge of applicable electronic security, fire and safety regulations and standards (e.g., BS and EN standards), and ability to apply them in practical work.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to produce clear service and defect repair reports along with accurate asset management.
- Good communication and customer service skills, with the ability to work effectively on-site and as part of a team.
- Full UK driving licence and the ability to travel to client sites in and around Burnley as required.
- Relevant technical qualification or apprenticeship in fire and security engineering or a closely related discipline is desirable.
