About the Role

We're currently looking to recruit a Fire Compliance Officer to take technical ownership of the lifecycle, inspection, and maintenance of all structural containment systems across the healthcare estate. This role ensures that all patient wards, operating theatres, diagnostic suites, and escape corridors remain fully compliant. The objective is to maintain strict compartmentation to support progressive horizontal evacuation in live, 24/7 clinical environments. The position requires an individual with a proactive, diligent, and conscientious approach to the work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage comprehensive fire door inspections across all hospitals, clinics, and mental health facilities, checking for frame gaps, ironmongery wear, intumescent seals, and mandatory vision panels.
  • Audit physical passive fire barriers, including service risers, ceiling voids, plant rooms, and sub-floor structural fire-stopping.
  • Oversee the safety compliance of specialized healthcare door sets, including hygienic cleanroom doors, high-traffic cross-corridor sets, and high-security ward doors.
  • Carry out basic remedial actions on fire doors such as changing door closers, hinges, locks, etc.
  • Maintain the estate's digital Golden Thread of information, cataloguing automated asset tracking logs for every single fire door and barrier penetration.
  • Compile routine fire safety performance metrics and risk exception logs for the Trusts Head of Estates, Fire Safety Manager, and the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
  • Review contractor Certificates of Conformity to ensure materials comply with the phased shift to European testing standards (BS EN 1634-1 and BS EN 13501).

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
