Role Description

The Fire Damper Engineer role is a full-time, on-site position based in the London Area, United Kingdom. The role involves the inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire and smoke dampers within ventilation systems to ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations. Day-to-day tasks include carrying out planned preventative maintenance, identifying defects or non-conformances, performing remedial works, and accurately documenting findings in reports and maintenance records. The engineer will work closely with clients and internal teams to schedule visits, explain technical findings in clear terms, and support wider HVAC, cleanroom, and LEV-related projects as required. The position requires adherence to health and safety procedures, safe working practices in varied environments, and a commitment to delivering reliable, high-quality service.

  • Demonstrated experience in fire damper inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair within HVAC or building services environments.
  • Knowledge of relevant standards and regulations for fire safety, ventilation systems, and building compliance (e.g., BS, HTM, ISO, COSHH, HSG258).
  • Practical skills in working with ductwork, air handling units, ventilation components, and associated mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and building plans, including ventilation layouts and asset lists.
  • Strong attention to detail and accurate report writing skills for recording test results, defects, and remedial actions.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise professionally with clients, colleagues, and site personnel.
  • Capability to work safely on-site, including confined spaces or ceilings, following risk assessments, method statements, and PPE requirements.
  • Relevant technical qualification or apprenticeship in mechanical
