Fire Alarm Design Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Fire Alarm Design Engineer to support the design and delivery of fire detection and alarm systems across a range of commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing compliant fire alarm designs, drawings, calculations, and technical documentation in accordance with relevant standards and client requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed fire alarm system designs in accordance with BS 5839 and relevant standards.
  • Produce fire alarm layouts, cause and effect matrices, zoning plans, and equipment schedules.
  • Prepare design calculations, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Coordinate designs with multidisciplinary project teams including MEP, architectural, and specialist systems designers.
  • Review client requirements and ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
  • Support design reviews, technical submissions, and approvals processes.
  • Liaise with suppliers, contractors, and project stakeholders throughout the design phase.
  • Provide technical support during installation, commissioning, and project delivery stages where required.
  • Participate in design coordination meetings and attend site visits as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Experience with Gent fire alarm systems is highly desirable.
  • FIA Advanced Design Qualification preferred.
  • BAFE accreditation or demonstrable experience working within BAFE-certified environments preferred.
  • Experience with AutoCAD for layouts and schematics preparation.
  • Some exposure to Navisworks for BIM coordination and design development is desirable.
  • Experience working on large-scale commercial, healthcare, data center, transportation, or infrastructure projects.
