Team members work closely with clients to support robust fire safety standards in a wide range of built environments.
Role Description
The Fire Door Surveyor is a full-time, on-site role based in the United Kingdom. This position is responsible for conducting detailed surveys and inspections of fire doors within commercial, educational, industrial, and leisure properties to assess condition, compliance, and performance. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing existing installations against relevant standards, compiling accurate survey reports, recording defects, recommending remedial actions, and liaising with project managers, clients, and site personnel. The Fire Door Surveyor will ensure that survey data is captured consistently, support the design of remedial solutions, and contribute to maintaining National Fire’s third-party accreditation and best practice reputation. The role may involve travel to multiple sites across London and the wider UK, working safely within live environments and occasionally coordinating with installation and maintenance teams.

- Strong knowledge of fire door regulations, standards, and passive fire protection principles, with experience conducting compliance surveys.
- Proficiency in site-based inspection work, including accurate measuring, photographic evidence collection, and detailed report writing.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and building plans relevant to fire doors and passive fire protection systems.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with clients, contractors, and colleagues in a clear and professional manner.
- Solid organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to plan site visits, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
- Competence using digital tools for data collection, reporting, and documentation (e.g., tablets, survey software, and standard office applications).
- Understanding of health and safety requirements, including safe working practices on commercial and industrial sites.
- Relevant fire door or passive fire protection training or certification (e.g., third-party accredited schemes) is highly beneficial.
- Previous experience in fire safety surveying, building surveying, or related construction/maintenance fields is an advantage.
- Valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel to client sites across London and the UK.
