Field Support Technician Apprenticeship
Your role will involve providing field support for reactive and maintenance works across our existing and new customer base. You will assist with and progressively take on responsibility for small installations, commissioning, and site surveys as your confidence and experience grow.
What you'll do at work
- You will be supported through structured training, mentoring from experienced engineers, and ongoing professional development to help you build a long-term career within the company.
- Our systems include but are not limited to:
- Fire alarms
- Intruder alarms
- CCTV
- Access control
- Emergency lighting
- Fire extinguishers
- You will be the face of the Company to our customers and will therefore deliver a high standard of customer care and service while continuing to learn and develop.
- Assist with troubleshooting, installation, maintenance, and repair on designated equipment, with guidance and supervision where required
- Support preventative maintenance and field modifications while building technical competence
- Maintain up-to-date administrative responsibilities such as customer service logbooks, internal PDA reporting, and compliance paperwork
- Maintain effective communication with customers and the office to ensure resolution and proper follow-up
- Learn to maintain tools and test equipment and ensure they are properly calibrated
- Adhere to Health & Safety and all other applicable regulatory requirements at all times
- Support the identification of sales opportunities and collaborate with the sales team
- Participate in the emergency out-of-hours standby rota as appropriate to your training stage.

Training

What you'll learn
- Comply with safety legislation, codes of practice, risk assessments, method statements, safe systems of work and apply control measures.
- Complete functionality tests of systems and components during commissioning systems.
- Apply and implement system design, planning and installations including additional components to existing systems.
- Carry out takeover procedure, diagnose and repair faults.
- Operate ICT equipment and systems to store, retrieve, manipulate, transmit or receive digital data and electronic information.
- Comply with environmental and sustainability, regulations and standards.
- Complete functionality tests of systems and components during handover of systems.
- Carries out risk assessments.
- Communicate with others verbally for example, internal and external customers, colleagues, and managers using sector specific terminology.
- Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, as part of a team. Consult and engage with occupants or others who are or could be affected by work (for example vulnerable, older, and disabled people) and respond appropriately.
- Communicate with internal and external stakeholders using sector specific terminology through written means.
- Plan and install systems cabling.
- Carry out maintenance activities on fire detection and alarm systems and their components.
- Carry out maintenance activities on intrusion alarm, access control, video surveillance (CCTV) and their components.

Fire Emergency and Security Systems Technician Level 3.
The apprentice will spend a week at Bradford College every 6 weeks (Block release), the rest of the time will be spent with the employer.
More training information
PLEASE NOTE! This role requires travel around Yorkshire and occasionally further afield. A company van will be provided.
Requirements
Desirable qualifications
- GCSE in:
- English (grade 9 - 4 (A* - C))
- Maths (grade 9 - 4 (A* - C))
Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
Other requirements
- Passing a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check
- Being comfortable with working at height
- Participate in the emergency out-of-hours standby rota as appropriate to your training stage.
- Full UK driving licence
