Working under the direction of the Lead Fire Engineer, the role contributes to the development of new-build and retrospective fire strategies, performance-based fire engineering assessments, fire risk management, and regulatory compliance throughout all stages of the project lifecycle.

The Fire Engineer works collaboratively within multidisciplinary design teams to develop practical, innovative, and compliant fire safety solutions while maintaining the highest technical and professional standards.

Key Responsibilities

Fire Engineering and Design

  • Prepare fire strategies in accordance with UK Building Regulations, ADB, BS 9999, BS 9991, BS 7974, and associated guidance.
  • Prepare retrospective fire strategies for existing buildings, including HRBs, using available records, site inspection evidence, and relevant current guidance.
  • Support external wall fire assessments and facade remediation projects, including review of facade build-ups, cavity barriers, fire stopping, insulation, membranes, cladding systems, and interfaces.

  • Contribute to BIM coordination and ensure fire safety information is accurately incorporated into project models and documentation.
  • Collaborate with architectural, structural, and MEP disciplines to deliver coordinated fire safety solutions.

Project Delivery and Risk Management

  • Deliver allocated fire engineering projects safely, efficiently, and within agreed program and budget.
  • Prepare technical reports, specifications, and supporting documentation to company quality standards.
  • Carry out site and quality assurance (QA) inspections to verify fire safety measures, including facade remediation works, cavity barriers, fire stopping, and other passive fire protection, against approved designs and manufacturer’s or system requirements.
  • Review contractor submissions, drawings, and product information relating to fire safety systems.
  • Support construction-stage fire assurance activities and identify deviations from approved fire strategies.
  • Support post-occupancy reviews and continuous improvement initiatives where required.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
