Job Description

FIRE ENGINEERING DIRECTOR

Odevo UK
Competitive
Home Based

ROLE OVERVIEW

As our most senior fire engineering professional, you will set the strategic direction, technical standards, and commercial performance of Odevo UK's Fire Engineering function. You will lead and grow a multidisciplinary team of fire engineers, technicians, and support colleagues, ensuring every design, assessment, and compliance project meets the highest professional, regulatory, and quality benchmarks.

This is a senior leadership role where you will combine technical authority with accountable leadership across people, business development, key client relationships, and risk governance. You will shape the roadmap for a high-performing function, unlock growth across the UK's largest residential property management platform, and champion innovation that raises safety outcomes for residents and property owners.

ROLE EXPECTATIONS

Most days, you will balance strategic leadership with hands-on oversight: guiding complex technical decisions, coaching leaders and project teams, and engaging directly with priority clients and partners. You will review and approve high-impact deliverables, manage commercial performance, and steer risk, quality, and compliance so the function scales with confidence.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

  • A clear strategy that elevates technical excellence, drives profitable growth, and is understood across the team and wider business.
  • Consistent delivery of compliant, high-quality work on time and on budget, with robust governance and minimal rework.
  • Engaged, high-performing teams with strong succession, low regretted attrition, and measurable development progress.
  • Deep, trusted relationships with key clients that lead to repeat work, referrals, and expansion of services.
  • A proactive risk culture with effective controls, transparent reporting, and swift resolution of issues.
  • Disciplined financial management with accurate forecasting, healthy margins, and cash performance.

HOW YOU'LL SPEND MOST OF YOUR TIME

  • Leading and developing fire engineering leaders and teams, setting priorities, removing blockers, and building capability.
  • Providing technical direction and final sign-off on complex designs, assessments, and safety strategies.
  • Owning key client relationships, shaping proposals and presentations, and supporting major bids.
  • Overseeing portfolio performance, including pipeline, utilization, profitability, and cash collection.
  • Strengthening governance: quality assurance, regulatory compliance, audits, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborating with Odevo business units to productize services, enhance technology enablement, and scale delivery.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
