Catchpoint UK is compliant with the BAFE SP203-1 scheme for the design, installation, and maintenance of fire alarms, BAFE SP101-1 Competency of Portable Fire Extinguisher and holds multiple industry accreditations, including NSI Gold, Fire Industry Association, Contractors Health and Safety Assessment, and SafeContractor.
Role Description
This is a full-time, field-based role operating from our Blackburn office, with regular travel required across Yorkshire, the East Midlands, and the North East of England.
The Fire Extinguisher Service Engineer will be responsible for visiting customer sites to carry out the inspection, servicing, maintenance, testing, and repair of fire extinguishers and associated fire safety equipment in accordance with current legislation, British Standards, and company procedures. The role involves diagnosing faults, undertaking remedial works and equipment replacements where required, and ensuring all service reports, certificates, and related documentation are completed accurately and efficiently.

- Provide customers with professional advice on fire safety compliance and best practices.
- Liaise closely with the wider fire and security team to coordinate service activities.
- Maintain company tools, vehicle stock, and health and safety standards.
As a representative of Catchpoint UK Ltd, the engineer will be expected to deliver a high standard of customer service and maintain a professional approach at all times.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in the inspection, servicing, maintenance, and testing of portable fire extinguishers in accordance with current British Standards and industry best practices.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify defects and ensure fire extinguishers remain safe, compliant, and fully operational.
- Experience of working independently in a field-based service role, managing daily workloads and attending customer sites across a designated region.
- Good technical knowledge of fire extinguisher types, fire safety equipment, and relevant fire protection legislation.
- Ability to carry out remedial works, repairs, and replacements where required, while maintaining high standards of workmanship and customer service.
- Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to liaise effectively with customers, provide fire safety guidance, and complete accurate service documentation.
- FIA, BAFE, or equivalent fire extinguisher servicing qualifications would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of BS 5306 and other relevant fire safety standards and regulations.
- Full UK driving licence is essential.
- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to health and safety procedures.
- Previous experience within the broader fire protection, fire alarm, or fire and security industry would be beneficial.
- Ability to represent Catchpoint UK Ltd professionally and maintain positive customer relationships at all times.
