Potential for higher earnings with Gas Suppression experience
Permanent | Full-Time
Ideal Location(s): Oxfordshire, High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, North London, Hertfordshire & Surrounding

At Midas, we are seeking an experienced Fire Installation & Commissioning Engineer to join a growing specialist fire-protection business delivering high-quality fire and life-safety systems across the UK.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer looking to work on varied and technically interesting projects, including commercial properties, critical environments, banking and financial sites, local authority projects and data centres.

The company has a strong track record of retaining its engineers, with low staff turnover and a genuine focus on looking after, training and developing its people.

The Role

You will be responsible for installing, testing, commissioning and handing over fire alarm, detection, emergency lighting and associated fire-protection systems. Commissioning experience is essential for this position.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Install conventional and addressable fire alarm, detection, emergency lighting and associated fire-protection systems.
  • Commission, test and fault-find systems in accordance with relevant British Standards and company procedures.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, specifications and wiring diagrams.
  • Complete commissioning certificates, test records, service reports and handover documentation.
  • Configure cause-and-effect programming where required.
  • Diagnose and resolve on-site technical issues efficiently.
  • Commission integrated fire and life-safety systems.
  • Liaise with clients, site managers, subcontractors and internal teams.
  • Provide customers with technical guidance on the operation of installed systems.
  • Maintain high standards of health, safety, quality and compliance.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

  • Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience working with a range of fire alarm panels and manufacturers.
  • Good understanding of electrical systems and site-based installation practices.
  • Strong communication and customer-service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a project team.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Willingness to travel nationwide as required.

Experience with manufacturers such as Siemens, Kentec, Advanced or Gent would be particularly beneficial.

Gas Suppression Experience

Experience with gas/gaseous suppression systems would be a major advantage and could provide the opportunity for a higher salary package. This is not essential, however, as full training can be provided to the right engineer. It’s a great opportunity to develop your experience into specialist fire-suppression systems, particularly within critical environments such as data centres and technical facilities.
