Role Description
The Fire Protection Estimator is a full-time, on-site role based in Matlock, responsible for preparing accurate estimates and proposals for passive fire protection projects. Day-to-day tasks include:

- Reviewing drawings and specifications
- Quantifying materials and labour
- Developing cost breakdowns for services such as intumescent coatings, fire compartmentation, cementitious sprays, and fire door installations
- Liaising with project managers, site teams, suppliers, and clients to clarify requirements, obtain quotations, and ensure estimates align with technical standards and regulatory compliance
- Updating and maintaining pricing databases
- Supporting tender submissions
- Contributing to value engineering and project planning to help deliver competitive, high-quality solutions
- Collaborating regularly with operations and technical staff to refine scopes of work, manage revisions, and support successful project delivery

Qualifications
- Experience in construction or fire protection estimating, including reading and interpreting architectural and engineering drawings and specifications.
- Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in estimating or spreadsheet software (e.g., Excel, estimating tools) and basic data management.
- Knowledge of passive fire protection systems, relevant UK building regulations, and industry standards, or a strong willingness to develop expertise in this domain.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with project managers, site teams, suppliers, and clients in a professional manner.
- High attention to detail, accuracy in cost calculations, and strong organisational skills to manage multiple tenders and deadlines.
- Previous experience in construction, fire protection, quantity surveying, or a related field; a technical or vocational qualification in construction, engineering, or similar is beneficial.
- Comfort working in an on-site office environment in Matlock and occasional visits to factory or project sites as required.
- Right to work in the UK and commitment to health, safety, and quality standards in all aspects of work.
