Role Description
The Fire Risk Assessor is a full-time on-site role based in Plymouth, responsible for conducting thorough fire risk assessments across a range of premises. Day-to-day tasks include inspecting buildings, identifying fire hazards, evaluating existing controls, and producing clear, detailed reports with practical recommendations to ensure compliance with relevant fire safety legislation and guidance. The role involves liaising with clients, facilities teams, and other stakeholders to explain findings, provide advice, and support the implementation of remedial actions. The Fire Risk Assessor may also contribute to building surveys, fire safety audits, and support technical consultancy projects, working closely with colleagues to maintain Firntec’s high standards of reliability and quality.

- Candidates should possess strong Fire Safety knowledge, including applicable legislation, standards, and best practices.
- Candidates should possess Health & Safety skills, with experience in risk assessment methodologies and safe working practices.
- Candidates should possess Analytical Skills to interpret building conditions, assess risk, and produce clear, evidence-based recommendations.
- Candidates should possess effective Communication skills, including report writing and the ability to explain technical findings to non-specialists.
- Candidates should possess awareness of Legionella risks and broader building compliance issues as beneficial complementary expertise.
- Relevant fire risk assessment or fire safety qualifications (e.g., FIA, NEBOSH Fire, or equivalent) are highly desirable.
- Experience in building surveying, facilities management, or compliance within residential or commercial properties is advantageous.
- Ability to work methodically on-site, manage multiple assessments, and maintain high attention to detail in documentation.
