Fire Risk Assessor

South Coast | Home-Based with Access to Offices in Petersfield and Portsmouth

Ensure Safety and Compliance is a trusted provider of fire safety, health and safety, and compliance services across the public and private sectors. As our client base continues to grow, we are seeking a dedicated Fire Risk Assessor to join our specialist team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional who is passionate about improving fire safety standards and developing their expertise within a supportive and highly experienced organisation.

About the Role

Working across a diverse portfolio of commercial, residential, and public sector properties, you will be responsible for carrying out Fire Risk Assessments and, where required, general Health and Safety Risk Assessments. You will play a key role in helping our clients identify hazards, manage risks, and achieve compliance with relevant legislation and best practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, organise, and undertake site visits throughout Southern England.
  • Conduct Fire Risk Assessments in accordance with current legislation, guidance, and industry best practice.
  • Carry out general Health and Safety Risk Assessments where required.
  • Produce clear, accurate, and professionally written assessment reports to company quality standards.
  • Provide practical and proportionate recommendations to support clients in improving safety and compliance.
  • Maintain professional relationships with clients and stakeholders, ensuring the highest standards of service delivery.

Essential Requirements

  • Sound knowledge and understanding of:
    • The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005
    • The Fire Safety Act 2021
    • The Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022
    • The Building Safety Act 2022
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High standard of report writing.
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to work.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the South Coast region and beyond when required.
  • Good IT skills and confidence using digital reporting systems.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold a recognised Fire Risk Assessment qualification.
  • Have experience undertaking Fire Risk Assessments across a range of property types.
  • Be a member of a recognised professional body, or actively working towards membership.
  • Be committed to ongoing professional development and maintaining technical competence.

Our assessors are registered on the Institute of Fire Safety Managers (IFSM) National Fire Risk Assessors Register (NFRAR), or hold relevant Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) membership. We actively support team members in achieving and progressing towards these professional standards.

Package includes:

  • A starting salary of up to £45,000 per annum (dependent on qualifications and experience).
  • 20 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays.
  • Car allowance or business mileage.
  • Additional leave during the Christmas shutdown period (typically 3 to 4 days).
  • Flexible home-based working.
  • Ongoing professional development, mentoring, and training support. Progress to IFSM NFRAR and BAFE SP205 Validator status.
  • Professional Institute membership.
