Umbrella Pay Rate: £311.06 per day umbrella

Summary

This role involves a 3-month contract with a local authority, focusing on supporting the Council in fulfilling its statutory obligations under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, and related fire safety legislation. The primary responsibility is to conduct fire risk assessments across the Council's residential property portfolio, ensuring the safety and compliance of various residential buildings. This position is crucial in maintaining high standards of fire safety and providing expert advice to enhance the Council's fire safety policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough fire risk assessments for both complex and non-complex residential buildings, including High-Risk Buildings (HRBs) and sheltered housing schemes.
  • Generate detailed and precise fire risk assessment reports, identifying hazards, assessing risks, and suggesting remedial actions.
  • Offer professional fire safety advice to senior managers, housing teams, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Review and evaluate fire safety arrangements, evacuation strategies, and both passive and active fire protection measures.
  • Assess building construction methods and fire safety design features to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Contribute to the development and ongoing improvement of fire safety policies, procedures, and management systems.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in conducting fire risk assessments within the social housing sector.
  • Proven experience in assessing both complex and non-complex residential buildings.
  • Level 5 qualification or higher in Fire Safety, Fire Safety Engineering, or a related discipline from a recognized fire sector professional body.
  • Graduate-level membership or higher with a recognized fire safety, engineering, construction, or building safety professional body.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD) relevant to fire safety and risk assessment.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to transport for site inspections (desirable).

  • Working hours are 36 hours per week.
