Fire Safety Advisor
The University of Hull is committed to providing a safe, secure and high-quality environment for students, staff and visitors. As part of this commitment, they are seeking an experienced and proactive Fire Safety Advisor to join their Health and Safety Directorate and play a key role in shaping fire safety across their diverse and complex estate.
Hull’s campus spans a wide range of environments, including laboratories, accommodation, teaching spaces, hospitality venues and sports facilities, each presenting unique fire safety challenges. In this varied setting, you will act as the University’s competent fire safety specialist, supporting and advising Faculties and Services to ensure compliance with legislation while driving continuous improvement and best practice.

Responsibilities
- Working collaboratively across the institution, contribute to the development and implementation of the University’s Fire Safety Strategy.
- Oversee fire risk assessments and associated action plans.
- Monitor compliance through audits and inspections.
- Deliver fire safety training to build awareness and capability across the University community.
- Investigate fire-related incidents, provide clear recommendations.
- Support the ongoing development of policies, systems and guidance to ensure a consistent and effective approach to fire safety.
Requirements
- Qualified fire safety professional (Level 3 or 4 or equivalent).
- Experience in a large or complex organisation.
- Strong understanding of fire safety legislation.
- Ability to engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders.
- Ability to translate technical requirements into practical solutions.
- Proactive, analytical approach to improving safety outcomes.
