About Us
IDF Fire Safety Engineering is a specialist consultancy delivering engineering-led fire safety solutions with a strong emphasis on technical excellence, compliance, and practical application. Due to continued growth, we are looking to appoint an experienced Fire Safety Engineer to join our expanding team and support a diverse portfolio of projects across the UK.
Role Overview
We are seeking a Fire Safety Engineer with approximately five years' experience in fire strategy design and prescriptive fire engineering. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting our expanding portfolio of projects, assisting with the development of fire strategies, fire risk assessments, and producing fire protection construction detail drawings.
The role offers exposure to a wide variety of projects, including residential, commercial, educational, mixed-use and heritage buildings.
You will undertake, review of the fire safety compliance of the existing buildings, planning application support, fire strategy design, develop practical fire safety solutions, and work closely with architects, structural engineers, contractors and approval authorities throughout the design and construction process.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review Fire Strategy Reports for residential, commercial and mixed-use developments.
- Support the Prescriptive Fire Engineering team in delivering compliant fire safety solutions in accordance with Approved Document B, BS 9991, BS 9999 and other relevant UK guidance.
- Undertake site inspections and fire safety surveys to assess existing buildings and support fire strategy development.
- Produce passive fire protection details and construction drawings for site-specific applications.
- Prepare technical reports, design notes and supporting fire engineering documentation.
- Liaise with architects, structural engineers, contractors, Building Control and BSR Officers.
- Attend design team meetings and provide technical fire safety advice throughout project delivery.
- Contribute to the continuous development of the company's technical knowledge and engineering procedures.

Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Fire Engineering, Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Approximately five years' experience in fire strategy, prescriptive fire engineering or fire engineering consultancy.
- Good working knowledge of UK Building Regulations, Approved Document B, BS 9991, BS 9999 and associated fire safety guidance.
- Experience preparing Fire Strategy Reports and advising multidisciplinary design teams.
- Understanding of passive fire protection principles and fire stopping details.
- Experience reviewing architectural drawings and producing technical construction details.
- Strong analytical, report writing and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Willingness to travel across the UK for site inspections and project meetings.
- Ability to work effectively within an international organisation, collaborating with colleagues across different countries and adapting flexibly to varied working practices and organisational cultures.
