THE OPPORTUNITY
Are you an experienced Health & Safety professional with a particular interest in fire safety, looking for a role where you can make a real difference? We are looking for a proactive Health & Safety / Fire Safety Officer to join our Health & Safety team at Numatic. This is a varied, hands-on role with fire safety as a key area of responsibility, alongside supporting the wider H&S function across our manufacturing and business operations. You will help influence safety through business change, including new buildings, layouts, processes, machinery and technologies – ensuring safety is considered at the design stage rather than afterwards. This is an excellent opportunity for a H&S professional looking to develop their fire safety specialism, or someone with strong fire safety experience looking to broaden their H&S knowledge. As a RoSPA Gold Award holder for 2026, we are committed to continually improving our approach to Health & Safety and creating safer working environments for our people.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
