Fire Safety Remediation Support Officer
This is an exciting opportunity to join Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service's Protection Team as a Fire Safety Remediation Support Officer. The role provides proactive, accurate and customer-focused administrative support to Fire Safety Auditors and Fire Safety Inspecting Officers, helping them to deliver regulatory, enforcement and fire safety activities effectively.

You will play a key role in coordinating correspondence, maintaining records, monitoring statutory deadlines and supporting remediation programmes that contribute to improving building safety and protecting residents across Berkshire. The post supports the Government's objective to accelerate the remediation of buildings with significant fire safety risks while ensuring high standards of customer service and stakeholder engagement.
This is a varied role that requires excellent organisation, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities in a busy operational environment.
About You
We are seeking a motivated and organised individual with excellent administrative and communication skills. You will enjoy working in a busy team environment, be able to manage multiple priorities and take pride in delivering a high standard of customer service.
You will have experience of providing administrative support within a busy office or customer-focused environment and be confident using Microsoft 365 applications, databases, shared mailboxes and electronic filing systems. You will possess strong organisational skills, have the ability to work accurately with sensitive information and demonstrate sound judgement when escalating matters appropriately.

Key Focus of This Role
Provide proactive administrative support to the Protection team, enabling Fire Safety Officers to focus on regulatory and technical activities.
- Coordinate and monitor Protection workflows, case management systems and workstreams, ensuring actions are progressed within agreed timescales.
- Manage shared inboxes, enquiries and correspondence, directing matters to the appropriate officers when specialist advice is required.
- Maintain accurate electronic records, databases and document management systems in line with data protection and Service requirements.
- Track statutory consultations, enforcement actions and follow-up activities to ensure compliance with required deadlines.
Requirements
Support enforcement and prosecution activities through document collation, evidence file organisation and case administration. Key role requirements (knowledge, skills and experience):
- Experience providing administrative support in a busy office or customer-focused environment.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft 365, spreadsheets, databases and electronic filing systems.
- Experience of accurate data entry, record maintenance and information management.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
- Ability to follow procedures, work independently within agreed boundaries and escalate issues appropriately.
