Salary Range: Competitive salary of £48,836 - £54,583 pa, plus LGPS pension and £5k market supplement
Leave Entitlement: 33 days, plus statutory holidays

Formed in April 2006 as an Arms Length Management Organisation (ALMO) we work in partnership with Sutton Council and its residents, managing over 6,000 council properties and over 1,470 leasehold properties in Sutton.
The Opportunity:
Are you an experienced fire safety professional with a passion for protecting residents and ensuring the highest standards of building safety?
We are seeking an experienced Fire Safety Surveyor to join our Asset Investment & Sustainability team and play a critical role in ensuring our homes remain safe, compliant, and fit for the future.
Reporting to the Fire and Building Safety Manager, you will provide technical expertise and assurance across a diverse housing portfolio, reviewing Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs), validating remedial works, and ensuring compliance with the Building Safety Act 2022 and associated fire safety legislation. This is an opportunity to make a tangible difference to residents by helping deliver homes and communities where people feel happy and secure.

As a Fire Safety Surveyor, you will:
- Review and quality assure Fire Risk Assessments, ensuring compliance with the organisation's Fire Safety Management Plan.
- Challenge and validate FRA findings and recommendations to ensure actions are accurate, proportionate, and practical.
- Audit and validate fire safety actions, ensuring accurate record keeping and compliance monitoring.
- Review contractor specifications and schedules of work to ensure alignment with fire safety requirements and organisational standards.
- Conduct site inspections to verify completed fire safety works, including fire door remedials and passive fire protection measures.
- Monitor contractor performance, challenge poor workmanship where necessary, and ensure standards are consistently met.
- Support access arrangements for statutory inspections and fire safety works.
- Liaise with residents, contractors, regulators including the London Fire Brigade, and internal stakeholders on fire safety matters.
- Undertake building safety audits and maintain accurate compliance records to support Golden Thread and Building Safety Regulator requirements.
Qualifications Required:
Essential:
- Degree in Building Surveying (or equivalent)
- NEBOSH Fire Safety Management Certificate
Desirable:
- Level 4 Diploma in Fire Risk Assessment (or equivalent)
- Professional Membership/Accreditation with the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE), Institute of Fire Safety Managers (IFSM), or the Tiered Fire Risk Assessors Register (TFRAR)
- Fire Door Inspection qualification (e.g. BRE or FDIS)

Essential Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Significant experience in fire-related contract administration and the validation of contractor-led remedial programmes.
- A thorough understanding of the Building Safety Act 2022, Fire Safety Act, and Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022.
- The ability to interpret and challenge technical drawings, fire-stopping specifications, and Regulation 38 documentation.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to challenge contractors and consultants where required.
- A commitment to maintaining the highest standards of fire and building safety compliance.
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle with business insurance.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an Enhanced DBS check.
