Fire Safety Surveyor in London
As a Fire Safety Surveyor in London, you'll be responsible for ensuring buildings comply with fire safety regulations, helping to keep people safe. This role supports a not-for-profit organisation's construction projects by conducting thorough fire safety inspections and providing expert advice.
Client Details
Our client is one of the UK's largest residential property owners and housing providers, responsible for managing a substantial portfolio of homes across London and the South East. With significant investment being made into building safety, fire compliance, and resident protection, they are seeking an experienced Fire Safety Surveyor to join their growing technical compliance team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Fire Safety Surveyor, Building Surveyor, Compliance Surveyor, Building Safety Surveyor, or Fire Risk professional to play a key role in delivering fire safety inspections, remediation programmes, fire risk assessment actions, and regulatory compliance across a large and diverse residential portfolio.
Description
- Lead the delivery of fire safety surveying activities across a residential property portfolio.
- Undertake fire safety inspections to identify building safety risks and compliance requirements.
- Review Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs) and support the delivery of remedial actions.
- Carry out technical assessments relating to passive and active fire safety measures.
- Inspect fire doors, compartmentation, fire stopping, means of escape, and associated fire safety systems.
- Produce detailed technical reports, specifications, schedules of work, and compliance recommendations.
- Monitor the progress of fire safety remediation programmes and ensure works are completed to required standards.
- Support the delivery of building safety and fire compliance projects across occupied residential properties.
- Validate completed fire safety works through quality inspections and compliance checks.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, findings, remedial actions, and project updates.
- Identify compliance risks and escalate significant concerns where necessary.
- Provide technical advice to colleagues, consultants, and stakeholders on fire safety matters.
- Support investment, refurbishment, and major works programmes from a fire safety perspective.
- Assist with contractor and consultant liaison where required to ensure successful project delivery.
- Contribute to building safety cases, compliance reporting, and audit requirements.
- Ensure properties remain compliant with relevant fire safety legislation and regulatory standards.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across fire safety and compliance functions.
- Keep abreast of changes in legislation, regulations, and industry best practice.
- Promote resident safety through proactive management of fire safety risks.
- Ensure all activities are delivered in accordance with health and safety legislation, building safety requirements, and organisational procedures.

Profile
- Degree, HNC, HND, Level 5 qualification, or above in Building Surveying, Construction, Fire Safety, Building Safety, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience within fire safety surveying, building safety, compliance, or property-related technical roles.
- Strong technical knowledge of fire safety legislation, building regulations, and industry guidance.
- Experience reviewing Fire Risk Assessments and managing fire safety actions.
- Good understanding of compartmentation, passive fire protection, fire doors, fire stopping, and means of escape.
- Experience carrying out inspections, surveys, and technical assessments within residential buildings.
- Knowledge of the Building Safety Act, Fire Safety Act, Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order, and associated legislation.
- Strong report writing and technical documentation skills.
- Ability to interpret regulations and translate requirements into practical solutions.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience working within social housing, residential property, local authority, consultancy, or compliance environments.
- Self-motivated and capable of managing a varied workload across multiple projects.
- Full UK driving licence preferred.

Please Note: Whilst experience working with contractors is beneficial, this role is heavily focused on technical knowledge, fire safety expertise, surveying capability, and compliance understanding. Strong technical competence and relevant qualifications are considered more important than contractor management experience.
Job Offer
- £52,000 per annum.
