Fire and Security Engineer
Here at Tay Fire & Security, we’re looking for an experienced Fire and Security Engineer to join our growing team, working across the Midlands region. This is a field-based role covering a mixture of servicing, remedial and installation work across fire and security systems, with occasional attendance at our Head Office in Nottingham.

For any work requiring overnight stays, expenses and accommodation will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Service and maintain a variety of fire detection systems, emergency lighting and portable fire extinguishers, alongside intruder alarms, CCTV and access control systems, ensuring work is completed to the required standards
- Carry out remedial works and support both large and small installation projects across a range of fire and security disciplines, taking responsibility for health and safety and working in accordance with relevant British Standards
- Liaise professionally with customers to understand their requirements, communicate clearly and respond efficiently, while providing system demonstrations and training and helping customers understand the causes and implications of false alarms
- Work proactively and efficiently both independently and as part of the wider engineering team, maintaining high standards of customer service and workmanship while providing on-call telephone support and attending out-of-hours callouts in line with the company standby schedule

Experience Required
- A minimum of two years’ previous experience within the Fire & Security industry, with practical knowledge of fire and security systems, equipment and manufacturers and the technical ability to confidently service and maintain systems in the field
- GCSEs in English and Maths as a minimum, together with excellent communication skills, a positive attitude and a strong commitment to delivering high standards of workmanship and customer service
- Knowledge and experience of emergency lighting and extinguisher maintenance would be advantageous, along with qualifications such as the FIA Foundation Module in Fire Detection and/or Portable Fire Extinguishers
- Relevant industry certifications such as IPAF, PASMA, Asbestos Awareness and Working at Height would be beneficial, together with a full valid UK driving licence and the flexibility to travel throughout the Midlands region and occasionally spend time away from home
