Fire & Security Engineer – Maintenance & Small Works

📍 Cardiff

💰 £16.50 – £18.50 per hour | OTE £40,000+

🕒 Permanent | Full-Time

➕ Overtime at 1.5x & 2x

The Role

We’re looking for an experienced Fire & Security Engineer to join a growing team covering planned maintenance, reactive callouts, fault-finding, small works and installations across commercial sites in South Wales.

This is a hands-on field position suited to an engineer who is confident working independently, dealing directly with customers and delivering a high standard of technical work.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs
  • Diagnose faults and resolve issues across fire and security systems
  • Complete small works, upgrades and minor installations
  • Work across fire alarms, intruder alarms, CCTV and access control
  • Install, test and commission new equipment where required
  • Work with IP and integrated security systems
  • Support complex fire alarm systems, including cause & effect
  • Complete service reports, certification and job documentation
  • Liaise professionally with customers and site contacts
  • Work safely and efficiently across occupied commercial buildings

What We’re Looking For

  • 3+ years’ experience within Fire & Security – essential
  • Strong practical experience with fire alarms and/or security systems
  • Good knowledge of intruder alarms, CCTV and access control
  • Confident with fault-finding, testing and commissioning
  • Experience with IP / integrated systems
  • Comfortable working independently in the field
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Full UK driving licence – essential

Desirable

  • FIA / BS 5839 training or equivalent
  • Experience with complex fire alarm systems and cause & effect
  • Fire extinguisher experience
  • Manufacturer-specific system knowledge
