Services cover the supply, installation, and maintenance of fire alarms, extinguishers, suppression systems, CCTV, intruder alarms, public address alarms, and security cameras, along with training and monitoring packages. The business employs nearly 90 staff and engineers and is committed to ongoing professional development, supporting both experienced professionals and apprentices. Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Fire & Security Service Engineer role working out of our head office in Shaftesbury but covering the South/South West of England. The engineer will:
- Service, maintain, fault find, and carry out remedial works on fire detection systems, emergency lighting, intruder alarms, CCTV, access control, and related security equipment at residential and commercial sites.
- Conduct routine inspections, diagnose faults, perform repairs, test system performance, and ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
- Complete accurate service reports, advise clients on system operation and basic troubleshooting, and coordinate with the office team to schedule visits and order parts.
- Support system upgrades, participate in on-call rota arrangements, and follow all health and safety procedures while representing Wessex Fire & Security professionally on customer premises.

Qualifications

- Strong technical skills in installing, commissioning, servicing, and fault-finding fire alarm and security systems, including CCTV, intruder alarms, and access control.
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulations (e.g., BS 5839, BS EN standards), health and safety practices, and safe working procedures on customer sites.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer documentation, and to use relevant tools and test equipment effectively.
- Good problem-solving, diagnostic, and time-management skills, with the ability to plan work, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple service visits in a day.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with customers, documenting work, and collaborating with colleagues and office-based teams.
- Comfort working independently in the field, with a customer-focused attitude and a professional, respectful approach to all clients and team members.
- Relevant experience in fire and security engineering or a closely related field; formal technical training or apprenticeship in electrical/electronic engineering is highly beneficial.
- Valid UK driving license and willingness to travel within the region; flexibility to participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota when required.
