This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a strong fire systems background who enjoys solving problems, collaborating with others and making a real impact on safety across one of the UK's largest property portfolios.
You will be responsible for
- Providing remote technical support to proactively diagnose and resolve fire-related maintenance issues.
- Acting as the first line of technical support for the Fire Technical Manager and field engineering teams.
- Supporting the delivery of Tesco's national Fire Risk Assessment programme.
- Using available systems and data to identify trends, risks and opportunities to improve maintenance performance.
- Collaborating with colleagues to optimise resource planning and engineer dispatch programmes.
- Building strong relationships across multiple teams and communicating clearly to manage expectations and drive solutions.
- Supporting the development and implementation of incident investigation and governance processes.
- Undertaking site visits when required to provide technical support and expertise.
- Helping to ensure all Tesco sites remain safe, compliant and operational for customers and colleagues.
- Monitoring maintenance performance and ensuring assets are repaired within agreed service levels.
- Placing customer, colleague and community safety at the heart of every decision.
- Maintaining compliance with all relevant legislation, standards and statutory requirements.
- Managing workload effectively whilst balancing operational priorities and business needs.
- Supporting a culture of continuous improvement, safety and service excellence.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
