FIRE SPRINKLER DESIGN ENGINEER
TimesGroup Ltd is a growing Mechanical & Electrical contractor delivering projects across the UK.
Our Projects Division delivers mechanical and electrical packages across a wide range of sectors, and as part of our continued growth we are looking to appoint an experienced Fire Sprinkler Design Engineer to join our design team.
This is a UK-wide role, supporting the design and delivery of sprinkler systems across projects throughout the country.
We are looking for an experienced designer with a strong technical background, excellent Autodesk Revit skills and proven experience designing sprinkler systems across both commercial and residential projects.
The Role
We are looking for an experienced Fire Sprinkler Design Engineer with a proven track record in the design of sprinkler systems across both commercial and residential projects.
You will be responsible for developing designs from initial concept through to coordinated, installation-ready information, working closely with our Project Managers, engineers, consultants, clients and site teams.
This is a specialist sprinkler design position – previous professional experience in fire sprinkler system design is essential.
Strong Autodesk Revit experience is also essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Design fire sprinkler systems for a range of commercial and residential projects.
- Produce detailed sprinkler layouts and coordinated design drawings using Autodesk Revit.
- Develop and maintain coordinated BIM models.
- Produce construction and installation drawings, schematics and technical details.
- Undertake and/or support hydraulic calculations and pipe sizing.
- Interpret architectural, structural and M&E drawings.
- Coordinate sprinkler systems with other building services and construction elements.
- Develop designs from initial concept through to construction and installation.
- Review and amend designs in response to design changes, coordination requirements and site conditions.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, Project Managers and site installation teams.
- Attend design and coordination meetings where required.
- Provide technical support to site teams during installation.
- Attend UK project sites for surveys, inspections and design reviews where required.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant standards, regulations, specifications and project requirements.
- Assist with design development, value engineering and technical problem solving.
- Manage multiple projects and design deliverables simultaneously.
- Ensure drawings and design information are produced accurately and within agreed project deadlines.

Essential Experience & Qualifications
The successful candidate will have:
- Minimum 3 years' professional experience in fire sprinkler system design.
- Demonstrable experience designing sprinkler systems for both commercial and residential projects.
- Strong practical experience using Autodesk Revit for sprinkler/MEP design.
- Strong AutoCAD skills.
- Experience producing detailed sprinkler layouts and coordinated construction drawings.
- Good understanding of sprinkler system design principles.
- Experience with hydraulic calculations and pipe sizing.
- Good knowledge of relevant sprinkler standards and industry requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural and M&E drawings.
- Strong technical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with project teams.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Willingness to travel to UK project sites when required.

Desirable Experience
The following would be advantageous:
- Strong knowledge of BS EN 12845.
- Knowledge and experience of BS 9251.
- LPC sprinkler design experience.
- FM Global requirements.
- Experience with sprinkler hydraulic calculation software such as Canute/FHC, HydraCALC, HASS or equivalent.
- LPCB Basic or other relevant sprinkler industry qualifications.
- BIM coordination experience.
- Experience working within an M&E contractor or construction environment.
- Experience with Revit-based multidisciplinary coordination.
What We Offer
- £60,000 – £70,000 per annum, depending on experience.
- Permanent, full-time position.
