Role Description
The Fire Stopping – Operative (Multi Trade) role is a full-time, on-site position based in Wolverhampton. Day-to-day responsibilities include installing and maintaining passive fire protection measures such as fire-stopping systems, seals, barriers, and compartmentation in accordance with relevant standards and project specifications. The operative will carry out multi-trade tasks, including basic carpentry, sealing, and patch repairs to walls, ceilings, and service penetrations, ensuring all works are completed to a high quality and fully documented. The role involves reading and understanding drawings, following method statements and risk assessments, using appropriate materials and tools, and working closely with supervisors, site managers, and other trades. The operative will also support site inspections, adhere strictly to health and safety procedures, and contribute to a culture of compliance and continuous improvement.

- Strong knowledge and practical experience in fire safety and fire prevention within built environments.
- Experience with fire protection and life safety measures, including installation and maintenance of passive fire-stopping systems.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, follow specifications, and complete detailed installation records.
- Competence in multi-trade tasks (e.g., basic carpentry, plastering/patching, sealing) relevant to fire-stopping works.
- Familiarity with current fire safety regulations, building codes, and industry best practices.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and commitment to quality and safety on site.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with site teams and supervisors.
- Relevant trade qualifications or certifications in fire-stopping or passive fire protection (e.g., NVQ, industry-approved training) are desirable.
- Valid CSCS card and a full driving license are advantageous.
