Fire Suppression Pre-Sales Engineer

What You Will Do

As a Fire Suppression Pre-Sales Engineer, you will be responsible for designing medium to high complexity fire suppression system solutions that meet customer requirements and project objectives. Working closely with sales teams, customers, project managers, and engineering colleagues, you will provide technical expertise throughout the sales and proposal process. You will develop system designs using industry-standard design tools such as AutoCAD and Building Information Modelling (BIM) software, ensuring solutions are technically compliant, commercially viable, and aligned with customer specifications. In addition, you will provide technical leadership, support quality assurance activities, and mentor junior engineers to maintain high standards across the engineering team.

How You Will Do It

  • Design medium to high complexity fire suppression system solutions in support of sales opportunities.
  • Develop system layouts, specifications, calculations, and technical documentation using AutoCAD, BIM, and other engineering design tools.
  • Review customer requirements, project specifications, and applicable industry standards to create compliant solutions.
  • Collaborate with sales teams to provide technical support during customer meetings, presentations, and bid submissions.
  • Produce accurate engineering estimates and technical proposals to support project delivery.
  • Conduct design reviews and quality control checks to ensure engineering deliverables meet company standards.
  • Liaise with customers, consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders to optimise solution design and project outcomes.
  • Support value engineering initiatives to improve system performance and cost efficiency.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to junior and intermediate engineers.
  • Stay current with fire suppression technologies, regulations, and industry best practices.

What We Are Looking For

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 6 years' experience in fire suppression, life safety, or related systems design.
  • Strong experience designing medium to high complexity fire suppression systems.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, BIM, and other engineering design applications.
  • Strong understanding of fire suppression system standards, codes, and regulations.
  • Experience producing technical drawings, calculations, and project documentation.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop other engineers.

  • Experience supporting pre-sales, bid, or proposal activities.
  • Knowledge of special hazard suppression systems and emerging fire protection technologies.
  • Professional engineering registration or relevant industry certifications.
  • Experience working within a global engineering or building technologies environment.
