Expression of Interest | Future Project Requirements

Motif Fire Consultants is inviting expressions of interest from experienced Fire Surveyors as we prepare for anticipated future project requirements.

We are currently tendering for opportunities that may require additional surveying capability. As part of our forward planning, we are looking to identify suitably experienced professionals ahead of potential project awards.

This is an expression of interest rather than a current vacancy. Suitable applicants may be contacted as relevant project requirements develop.

ROLE OVERVIEW

Potential future assignments may involve carrying out passive fire protection surveys across a range of building types, including healthcare, education, residential, commercial and other complex or occupied environments.

Survey activities will primarily focus on:

  • Fire stopping
  • Compartmentation
  • Fire doors and doorsets

Fire Surveyors will be expected to independently undertake surveys within their demonstrated area of competence, accurately record site conditions and identify defects, damage, breaches or other areas of concern.

The work may include recording locations, dimensions, substrates, services and other relevant site information, together with capturing clear photographic and supporting evidence.

Fire Surveyors will be expected to understand the purpose and function of the passive fire protection measures being inspected, work methodically and consistently, and recognise when findings require escalation or further technical review.

Fire Surveyors will also be expected to prepare clear, accurate and professional written survey reports that effectively communicate their findings and supporting evidence.

Fire Surveyors will be expected to recognise where findings may require further technical review and to provide the relevant information and evidence to support that process. Complex technical interpretation, specialist advice and remedial fire stopping specifications will be led by the appropriate technical resource.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

  • Ability to identify, accurately record and clearly describe defects and site conditions.
  • Ability to record relevant dimensions, substrates, services and other information required to support survey findings.
  • Ability to capture suitable photographic and supporting evidence.
  • Good working knowledge of relevant fire safety guidance, standards and industry guidance applicable to fire stopping, compartmentation and fire doors.

We would expect applicants to hold or demonstrate:

  • NVQ Level 2 in Passive Fire Protection
  • Relevant training and qualifications appropriate to the areas being surveyed, including fire stopping, compartmentation and fire doors where applicable.

Additional relevant passive fire, fire safety, construction or building-related qualifications would be welcomed.

Professional membership of a relevant industry or professional body would also be advantageous but is not essential for this level of role.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for surveyors who can be trusted to undertake work independently, follow an agreed survey scope and produce reliable information that can be used for further technical assessment, reporting and remedial planning.

The ability to recognise when something is uncertain, outside the survey scope or beyond the individual's competence is equally important. Surveyors will be expected to escalate these matters rather than make unsupported technical assumptions.

Accuracy, consistency, professionalism and the quality of the evidence gathered will be central to the role.
