Compensation: £39,705.40 + Benefits

Role Type: Full time / Permanent

Role ID: SF75365

Help protect people, aircraft, and operations in a unique defence aviation environment.

At Babcock, we’re working to create a safe and secure world, together. If you join us, you can play your part as a Firefighter at RAF Woodvale, near Southport, Merseyside.

The Role

As a Firefighter, you'll play a vital role in supporting safe flying operations by providing aircraft rescue and firefighting services within a military aviation environment. Working as part of a dedicated fire crew, you'll be responsible for responding to aircraft incidents, emergencies, and rescue situations while ensuring operational readiness at all times.

Day-to-day, you will be:

  • Providing operational aircraft crash rescue and firefighting cover in support of flying activities.
  • Maintaining and operating specialist firefighting vehicles and emergency response equipment.
  • Responding to aircraft emergencies, incidents, and practice exercises as part of the duty fire crew.
  • Carrying out first responder duties and supporting emergency management activities.
  • Completing administration, driving, housekeeping, and other operational duties to ensure fire section readiness.

This role is full time, working Monday to Friday, 08:15 to 18:15, and is based on site at RAF Woodvale.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
