The London Heliport Ltd. is London’s only CAA-licensed heliport, providing specialist helicopter landing and handling services. Established in Battersea in 1959, it has long served as a key aviation hub for business, emergency, and private helicopter operations. The heliport operates in a highly regulated environment, prioritizing safety, compliance, and efficient ground operations. Team members work in a dynamic setting where precision, communication, and coordination are essential to support safe helicopter movements and passenger services.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Firefighter/Ground Handler role based at The London Heliport in Battersea. The role involves supporting safe helicopter operations through firefighting readiness, emergency response, and ground handling duties. Day-to-day tasks include:

The Firefighter/Ground Handler will maintain firefighting and safety equipment, participate in regular drills, and follow established procedures to ensure regulatory compliance. The role also includes supporting passenger handling, communicating clearly with pilots and colleagues, and working as part of a coordinated team in a fast-paced operational environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience or training in firefighting, emergency response, or aviation safety, with the ability to respond calmly and effectively in urgent situations.
  • Knowledge of ground handling procedures, including aircraft marshalling, refuelling, and ramp safety practices.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to follow instructions and coordinate with pilots, operations staff, and other team members.
  • Good physical fitness and willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including shift work, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols, with a focus on compliance with CAA and heliport regulations.
  • Basic IT and record-keeping skills to complete operational logs, safety reports, and incident documentation.
  • Relevant firefighting, aviation, or safety certifications are beneficial; prior experience in an airport, heliport, or emergency services environment is an advantage.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK and the ability to successfully complete background checks and required training.
