Role Description
The Fishmonger Shop Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in London, responsible for overseeing daily operations of the fishmonger shop. This includes:
- Managing inventory and stock rotation
- Ensuring proper storage and handling of fresh fish and seafood
- Maintaining high standards of hygiene and food safety
- Preparing and displaying products
- Advising customers on selections and cooking methods
- Delivering consistently helpful and respectful service

The manager will:

- Supervise and schedule staff
- Train team members in best practices
- Monitor sales performance to meet targets
- Coordinate supplier orders
- Manage cash handling and basic financial records
- Ensure the shop remains clean, organized, and compliant with all relevant regulations
Salary: £35000/£42000 per yer (£16/h/start)
Hours: Tuesday to saturday
9/10am to 6/7pm
Paid Holidays:
- 3 weeks in august
- First week of january off
- Every tuesday after bank holiday monday off/paid
Qualifications
- Experience in fishmongering or fresh food retail, including handling, preparing, and presenting fish and seafood products.
- Strong shop management skills, such as staff supervision, scheduling, and day-to-day operational oversight in a retail environment.
- Knowledge of food safety, hygiene standards, and health and safety regulations relevant to fresh food handling.
- Customer service and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse customers, provide product advice, and resolve issues professionally.
- Basic numeracy and financial skills for cash handling, stock control, and monitoring sales and margins.
- Organizational abilities, attention to detail, and reliability in maintaining shop cleanliness and product quality.
- Ability to work on-site in London, including standing for extended periods and performing manual tasks such as lifting and carrying stock.
- Previous experience in a supervisory retail role and familiarity with UK food retail regulations are beneficial.
