Due to exceptional demand within our Leisure Club, we are looking to increase our team at the Vale Resort and are currently recruiting for a Fitness Manager.
The Vale Resort is an award-winning, four-star Hotel, comprising of 143 bedrooms with five food outlets, two championship golf courses, and Wales’ largest spa, health and racquets club. We also offer state-of-the-art sporting facilities and host top-flight international and club teams. Recent expansion of our Resort includes Hensol Castle, transformed into a luxury and unique wedding and events venue, proving extremely popular. Recent renovation of the Grade I listed Castle has now opened 23 luxury bedrooms along with an award-winning Distillery, gin school, and visitor attraction tucked away in the cellar.
About The Role
As a Fitness & Reception Manager at Vale Resort, we are seeking a motivated, customer-focused, and commercially minded Fitness Manager to support the day-to-day management and successful operation of a busy leisure and fitness facility. The role will be responsible for maintaining high standards across the gym, fitness, leisure, and customer service areas, while supporting the wider management team in delivering an excellent member experience, achieving financial targets, and ensuring a safe, professional, and welcoming environment for all customers and staff.

Main Duties
- Support the day-to-day operation of the leisure and fitness facility, ensuring all areas are clean, safe, well maintained, and operating efficiently.
- Assist with the opening and closing of the facility and ensure appropriate staffing levels are maintained.
- Monitor the gym, fitness, and leisure areas to ensure company standards, procedures, and health and safety requirements are consistently met.
- Deal confidently with operational issues, customer concerns, and staff queries, escalating matters where appropriate.
- Assist with emergency procedures, incident reporting, and risk assessments and ensure all relevant legal, health and safety, and industry requirements are adhered to.
- Lead, motivate, and support the leisure and fitness team to deliver consistently high standards of service.
- Monitor staff performance and provide regular coaching, feedback, and support. Encourage a positive, professional, and inclusive team culture.
- Organize staff rotas and ensure appropriate staffing levels across all operational areas.
- Deliver and promote an exceptional customer experience across the facility.
- Build strong relationships with members and encourage customer retention and engagement.
- Support the delivery of fitness programs, gym inductions, classes, fitness assessments, and member consultations where appropriately qualified.
- Monitor customer feedback, identify opportunities to improve the member journey, and deal with complaints professionally and work towards positive resolutions.
- Support the management team in achieving membership, personal training, fitness, and ancillary revenue targets.
- Monitor sales performance and contribute to achieving departmental KPIs.
- Promote memberships, fitness products, classes, personal training, and other services.
- Support promotional campaigns, member events, and marketing initiatives.
- Complete relevant operational and management reports accurately and on time.
- Work closely with other departments and management to ensure the smooth running of the wider facility.
- Assist with audits, inspections, and internal quality checks.

About You
The ideal candidate will have previous experience within the leisure, fitness, health club, or hospitality industry, with proven experience supervising or managing a fitness team. We are looking for someone with excellent customer service and communication skills, a strong understanding of health and safety, and the ability to motivate, coach, and develop staff. Strong organizational skills, a customer-focused approach, and the flexibility to work evenings, weekends, public holidays are also essential. A relevant leisure or fitness qualification is required.
