Fitness & Sales Lead
Location: The Armoury Gym, Hampstead
Salary: £26,644.80 per annum
Hours: 40 hours per week, full-time
Contract: Permanent
Reporting to: General Manager
About the Role
We are looking for a motivated, commercially minded and customer-focused Fitness & Sales Lead to join the team at The Armoury Gym in Hampstead, operated by Jubilee Hall Trust.
This is a new hybrid role combining fitness, reception, sales and commercial development. Alongside your responsibilities as a Fitness Instructor, you will take a lead role in driving membership sales, following up prospects and identifying new opportunities to increase income.
You will become the go-to person for sales at the site, working closely with the General Manager and wider team to improve sales performance, share ideas and ensure opportunities are being maximised.
This role would suit someone who enjoys working with people, is commercially driven and naturally takes ownership.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Commercial
- Take ownership of new membership sales and convert enquiries, tours and prospects into memberships.
- Proactively follow up leads and drive prospecting activity.
- Manage PIF and annual membership renewals.
- Support debt collection and reducing outstanding membership balances.
- Identify opportunities to generate additional income across the club.
- Bring forward new ideas and initiatives to improve revenue and commercial performance.
- Monitor sales activity and support the wider team in achieving their sales targets.
- Work closely with the General Manager on sales campaigns, strategy and commercial opportunities.

Fitness & Member Experience
Alongside your commercial responsibilities, you will carry out the full responsibilities of a Fitness Instructor, including:
- Delivering inductions and personalised fitness programmes.
- Providing support, advice and technique correction on the gym floor.
- Delivering and covering gym floor-based classes.
- Building strong relationships with members and providing excellent customer service.
- Responding to member enquiries and dealing with complaints professionally.
- Supporting member retention through proactive engagement and an outstanding member experience.
These responsibilities are aligned with the existing Gym Instructor role, including fitness programmes, member support, classes, customer service and maintaining a welcoming gym environment.
Reception & Club Operations
All shifts will be opening or closing shifts and will include working on reception. This provides an important opportunity to engage with members and prospects and drive sales.
You will also be responsible for:
- Handling reception and membership enquiries.
- Processing memberships and payments.
- Completing opening and closing procedures.
- Maintaining accurate records and systems.
- Completing health, safety and maintenance checks.
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and presentation.
- Reporting faults, incidents and maintenance issues.

What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who is confident, proactive, commercially minded and great with people.
You will ideally have:
- Previous sales or commercially focused experience.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- A Level 2 Fitness Instructor qualification, or be working towards one and able to achieve it by the end of probation.
- A genuine interest in health and fitness.
- Confidence discussing memberships and commercial opportunities with customers.
- The ability to work independently, take ownership and get things done.
- A willingness to learn, develop and bring fresh ideas.
A Level 3 Personal Training qualification, fitness industry experience, group exercise qualifications and First Aid training would be desirable.
What Success Looks Like
You'll be successful in this role if you:
- Increase membership and additional income.
- Consistently identify and convert sales opportunities.
- Bring new ideas that improve the commercial performance of the club.
- Become a trusted source of sales knowledge and support for the wider team.
- Build strong relationships with members and prospective members.
- Take ownership, use your initiative and follow things through without needing to be asked.
