I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Experience in surveying, estimating, or sales would be advantageous but isn't essential if you have the right practical fitting background and are comfortable dealing with customers.
More Than Just a Fitting Job
This could be particularly attractive to an experienced fitter or installer who enjoys the practical side of their job but wants more responsibility and customer interaction.
Rather than simply being given an installation and completing it, you'll become involved earlier in the process – meeting customers, understanding their requirements, surveying, measuring, estimating, and recommending solutions before completing the installation.
It's an opportunity to use your existing practical skills while developing valuable experience across sales, estimating, surveying, and customer relationship management.
If you're an experienced Fitter, Installer, Installation Engineer, Field Service Engineer, Installation Technician, Surveyor, or Estimator based within commuting distance of North West London, we'd like to hear from you.
Salary circa £40,000 + benefits.
