Join ICL Boulby, home to one of Europe's deepest mines and the world's only operational polyhalite mine. Located on the stunning North Yorkshire coastline, Boulby Mine is part of a global organisation providing essential minerals that support agriculture and industry around the world.

We're looking for a Fitter (Winder) to join our Surface Maintenance team, ensuring critical machinery and equipment are maintained safely, efficiently and reliably.

What you will be doing

As a key member of the engineering team, you will:

  • Carry out planned preventative and corrective maintenance activities
  • Complete maintenance inspections and remedial work on critical equipment
  • Follow safe systems of work, permits, risk assessments and method statements
  • Attend and contribute to daily pre-shift meetings and toolbox talks
  • Diagnose faults and resolve mechanical issues efficiently
  • Complete PPM work orders and maintenance reports
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across equipment, tooling and working practices
  • Work collaboratively with operational teams, engineering colleagues and contractors
  • Participate in the shaft call-out rota, providing on-call support when required

What we are looking for

We are keen to hear from candidates who have:

  • Time-served apprenticeship in a mechanical discipline
  • Experience maintaining mining equipment or working within a complex industrial environment
  • Strong understanding of mechanical maintenance and engineering principles
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to prioritise work effectively
  • Effective communication skills and a team-focused approach
  • Experience completing risk assessments and working safely within a high-hazard environment

  • NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering
