Lusona Consultancy Exclusively Recruiting for a Fixed Asset Accountant in Glasgow
Lusona Consultancy is working exclusively with our client in the Construction services sector to recruit a Fixed Asset Accountant for the Glasgow office. This is a permanent opportunity reporting to the Finance Manager in a high-profile role responsible for strengthening the balance sheet and owning the end-to-end fixed asset reporting cycle. Our client is a successful and well-known brand with over 50 people in the finance team alone. They are looking for a motivated and detail-driven Part or Fully qualified accountant with a desire to grow their experience over the longer term. This is an office-based opportunity offering a competitive salary dependant on experience between £45,000 - £50,000 per annum.
Role Overview
The Fixed Asset Accountant will have the responsibility for financial management, asset management, and the accuracy of the Balance Sheet across a multi-entity environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop a working knowledge of the fixed asset end-to-end process and take responsibility for all asset-related tasks to ensure the accuracy of reported numbers:
- Asset Register Management: Take responsibility for the accuracy of the fixed asset register and investigating any issues as they arise.
- Month-End Closing: Take responsibility for running the monthly depreciation process on ERP system.
- Balance Sheet reconciliations: Perform all reconciliations related to fixed assets reviewing against the fixed asset register and good receipts, etc.
- Regulatory & Tax Compliance: Work alongside tax colleagues to align fixed asset reporting with capital allowance claims, tax depreciation schedules, and deferred tax calculations (no prior tax knowledge required).
- Audit Facilitation: Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors on all asset matters, e.g., gain on sale analysis, providing comprehensive fixed asset roll-forward schedules and sampling documentation.

This is a visible role across the organisation that will involve end-to-end analysis and accounting for an asset-focused organisation from creation to disposal. You will work with large data sets with a continuous improvement mindset, engaging with the wider finance team to understand how each area works with an opportunity to get exposure to each functional area.

Skills & Qualifications
It would be great if you have:
- An up-to-date knowledge of FRS 102 and an understanding of GAAP or IFRS standards related to tangible assets and leases.
- A curiosity to review and improve processes and controls.
- Confident, able to work on your own initiative, and has a keen eye for detail.
- Comfortable working with and drawing insights from large quantities of data.
