Fixed Wire Test Engineer (Commercial Electrical Safe Working)

  • Location: Bristol (or home-based in North Yorkshire, Sheffield, or Northampton)
  • Salary: £36,000–£39,000 per year (depending on location; bonus potential with overtime)

  • Fixed wire inspections
  • Portable appliance testing (PAT)

  • Thermal imaging assessments

About the Role: Fixed Wire Test Engineer (Commercial)

We are searching for highly skilled Fixed Wire Test Engineers to perform periodic electrical inspections on commercial sites (e.g., facilities, retail, education).

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough inspections and testing of commercial electrical installations (excludes domestic housing)
  • Identify and carry out minor remedial works as required
  • Generate precise reports compliant with NICEIC standards (quality-checked internally)
  • Collaborate with Technical Managers and Operations for process refinement
  • Use bespoke testing software – opportunities to propose enhancements encouraged!

You’ll primarily work from Bristol/South West, Sheffield, North Yorkshire, or Northampton, with a 40-hour workweek (overtime and weekend work available, depending on site periods).


Key Skills & Qualifications

Essential requirements:

  • Qualified electrician with:
    • Recognised qualification: C&G 2391 or equivalent
    • AM2/Level 3 NVQ Electrical qualifications
    • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification
  • Extensive commercial experience (not limited to domestic work)
  • Strong commitment to safe working practices
  • Ability to self-manage and complete tasks efficiently
